Is there anything you wish you knew before getting into orchids? I’m mostly a Hoya head but the orchids at my local grocery store always looked so enticing. I couldn’t ever bring myself to purchase any, but got lucky on a plant trade! Can’t wait to see how this one does

I’m an orchid noob myself, but I wanted to say that your orchid is simply beautiful! What a gorgeous color.
Do NOT water with ice, no matter what the tag says. Orchids are tropical plants so use room temp/slightly warm water only. Let the soil dry out between waterings until the roots look silvery and don’t leave them sitting in water. Just run water through the inner plastic pot until it’s all wet, let it drain, and put it back in the ceramic pot. And Orchid food spikes are the easiest way to fertilize. Other that that you pretty much leave them be. They’re easy plants once you know the rules. Miss Orchid Girl on youtube is a fantastic resource if you want more info.
