A GROUP of 20 employees from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury recently volunteered their time to help brighten up Benyon Primary School by painting the school’s outdoor early years space.

The team rolled up their sleeves to paint, clean, and revitalise the outdoor area, turning it into a colourful and welcoming space for pupils and staff to enjoy. The transformation is part of Amazon’s commitment to supporting local communities through employee volunteering and outreach.

Anais, one of the Amazon Tilbury team who volunteered at Benyon Primary, said: “It was amazing to see the difference we made in just one day. The garden looks fantastic and it’s great to know the children will have a bright, tidy space to play and learn in.”
Mrs Oxley, Head of School at Benyon Primary School added: “We’re really grateful to the team from Amazon Tilbury for their hard work and support. The refresh of our outdoor learning environment and corridors has a big impact on our pupils. It’s great to see local businesses getting involved with the school community.”
Omer Kartal, General Manager at Amazon in Tilbury, added: “Community is at the heart of everything we do at Amazon. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our associates giving back in such meaningful ways, and I’m proud of their effort to make a positive difference for the pupils and staff at Benyon Primary School.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The initiative has donated more than 8 million surplus goods to over 600,000 families across Scotland, Wales, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.
Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.
Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
