KOTA KINABALU: The State Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry, Datuk Haji Jamawi Jaafar, has called on all ministry personnel to unite and fully commit to supporting the implementation of the Kitchen Garden Initiative.

This effort aims to strengthen food security and promote self-sufficiency among the people, he said

Jamawi said that support from all officers and staff within the ministry is crucial, covering planning, execution, monitoring, and promoting this initiative to the community.

“Ministry staff must be at the forefront and ambassadors of this initiative, setting an example through participation, technical support, and effective promotion at the community level,” he said.

The Kitchen Garden Initiative is not just a small agricultural project but a strategic movement to empower households, reduce living costs, and raise awareness about basic agriculture, he explained during the Excellent Service Award (APC) 2025 ceremony, here on Saturday night.

Jamawi also emphasised that the ministry’s success in agriculture, fisheries, and the food industry relies on the efficiency, integrity, and dedication of public servants.

He stressed that excellence is not only about achieving KPIs but also includes professionalism, efficient delivery systems, integrity, accountability, and the ability to effectively solve the people’s problems.

“We must continue to foster high performance, shifting from routine work to tasks that have a real impact on the ministry and society,” he asserted.

Jamawi further highlighted a zero-tolerance policy towards leaks, negligence, and abuse of power, reminding the APC 2025 recipients to be role models and inspirations for the next generation of public servants.
