CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The flowers, the landscaping, and warm atmosphere at the Great Big Home and Garden Show are giving Northeast Ohioans a chance to think spring during the dead of winter.

The annual event at the IX Center features waterfalls, ponds, flowers, and landscapes designed to offer an escape from the region’s snow and record-breaking cold.

“It’s so cold out, and this will give you a little bit of warmth and that feeling of spring,” said Rosanna Hrabnicky, show manager of the Great Big Home and Garden Show.

More than shopping and scenery

The show offers more than beautiful displays. More than 500 companies are on the show floor, allowing visitors to shop and compare products and services.

“You can shop and compare, and the best part about it, you’ll get the lowest pricing because they all have really great show specials,” Hrabnicky said.

The event features everything from tiny homes to construction ideas. One display showcases a 430-square-foot tiny home with everything needed for comfortable living.

Annual tradition for many families

For Jeff Kaufmann of Fairview Park, the show has been an annual family tradition for about 20 years.

“Used to rekindle that need for warm weather and spring, especially with the Cleveland winters we have. It gets pretty cold, especially with this last week here, it’s the taste of spring,” Kaufmann said.

Ken from Parma said the show provides inspiration for home and business improvements.

“I really enjoy the atmosphere and the ambience and all of the displays because I deal with construction a little bit and it’s just wonderful to see all new ideas. The beauty they present,” he said.

LaShawn Maxwell of Elyria said she was surprised by the variety of options available.

“You name it, they’ve got it out here. Like I just came for the plants, and I have more than just that, I’ve signed up for waterproofing and a couple of other things. It’s nice, it really is nice,” Maxwell said.

The Great Big Home and Garden Show runs through February 8th at the IX Center. Tickets can be purchased online or at the show.
