Creating an elevated aesthetic doesn’t require a massive budget, just a thoughtful color story, a bit of research before tossing bags into the cart and heading to your local Costco!

We are back exploring the aisles and I’ve curated a little design guidance with some super special themes. From texture-forward containers and the New Perennial movement to whimsical moon gardens and bold maximalist borders. Let’s look past the packaging photos and discover how to literally design with Costco.

I can’t wait to share these ideas with you all!
Kate

  1. I was given 25 Liatris with my bulb order for free. The bunnies would not allow this plant a chance. They would eat it to the ground every chance they got. I even caged them and the bunnies ate them still. Must be tasty that’s all I can say.

  2. Liatris is super easy and drought tolerant. However, if pairing with pink echinacea, the combo "can" sometimes looks a bit washed out and insipid therefore adding something punchy; a deep raspberry or wine color will keep it interesting 😉

  3. Kate!!! Seriously😂 I’m venturing to “the city” next weekend and this Costco shopping list turning into gardening list😂😂
I know hubby will be shocked how expensive “food” has become😂❤❤❤

  4. Costco, at least in Canada, sells Veradek planters❤ I have now group of 6 large planters, now I now what to put in them❤

  5. I’ve been checking my Costco every few days for bulbs. I’ll have to check again tomorrow. The video you recently did at the giant tree nursery, you featured a climbing hydrangea. My understanding is that nursery is wholesale, not open to the public? I’m really looking for that particular hydrangea, large like the ones you showed. Do you have any suggestions where I could purchase it locally?

  6. Chiming in from eastern WA here, iust fyi peeps, i was gifted an elephant ear bulb last year, once it got going and leafed out, spider mites found it quickly. Straight to the garbage can 😫

  7. I really love these Costco bulb videos! Based on your last one I hurried out for the shades of blue hyacinths. i also picked up some daffodils and tulips. I can't wait for everything to bloom!

  8. Awesome video!!! I am anxiously waiting for my Costco to finally get their bulbs stocked!!! 😃 Liz in California

  9. I would also add if you are looking to plant liatris but looking for something either more local to your zone, or a different height/texture — it is super doable to grow via seed via winter sowing. We went with Liatris ligulistylis…

  10. Off topic: i need to find a scented geranium plant. Who (locally?) sells those please and do you have a variety to recommend?

  11. I adore your Costco bulb videos! Not only do you show us whats available, you inform us of design/scale and color ways to pick the best choices. Crossing my fingers my Costco has the Labyrinth/Tryell package. 🤞🤞🤞
