Northeastern University’s men’s hockey team is looking to rebound after falling to the Boston College Eagles during last year’s Beanpot semifinal, a loss that snapped the Huskies’ back-to-back title streak and their run of five championships in six years.
Monday night’s semifinal will see the Huskies take on the Boston University Terriers at 8 p.m. at TD Garden. The clash comes just weeks after the two teams duked it out in the final hockey game at Matthews Arena, where the Huskies lost in the final minutes 4-3 to the Terriers.
The 2026 Dunkin’ Beanpot brings together four of Boston’s top men’s hockey programs — Northeastern, Boston University, Boston College and Harvard — for the annual midseason tournament. The four teams will once again face off for bragging rights in one of college hockey’s most exciting traditions, now in its 73rd year.
Northeastern enters the matchup with a 12-11 overall record, including a 7-8 mark in Hockey East play. The Huskies have hovered around .500 this season as they look to build momentum in the second half of the year and strengthen their standing against conference opponents.
The Huskies lost 8-2 to the Eagles, then the top-ranked team, in the 2025 Beanpot semifinal.
Boston University enters the Beanpot with a 12-12-1 overall record and an 8-9 mark in conference play. The Terriers, who are the defending Beanpot champions, have navigated an up-and-down regular season but return to the tournament aiming to defend their title and recapture the form that carried them to last year’s championship. The Terriers defeated the Eagles 4-1 in last year’s final.
The Dunkin’ Men’s Beanpot will be broadcast on New England Sports Network, or NESN.
In the 47th Dunkin’ Women’s Beanpot, defending champion Northeastern fell short in a bid for a fourth straight title in the semifinals, as Boston University stunned the No. 7/6 Huskies 2-1 in overtime.
