Gardeners across Dorset are being urged to act quickly after Storm Chandra brought heavy rain, strong winds and saturated ground to the region, conditions that experts warn can leave behind hidden dangers and expensive repair jobs if ignored.
Colin Potts, garden expert at Artificial Grass Direct, says the period immediately after a major storm is critical.
He said: “It’s often the less obvious damage that causes the biggest problems later. A few simple checks now can prevent injuries, pest issues and costly repairs when spring arrives.”
Gardeners are advised to clear storm debris before it causes damage, watch for slippery paths, patios and steps, check bird feeders and spilled food, Inspect fences, gates and garden structures, assess trees and large shrubs for safety risks, and check lawns and grassed areas last.
