You need to snap a few branches and see if there’s any green left in them. If you can’t find any green it’s all over. If you can find some green cut it back hard, like every dead branch off it and drown it and then cross your fingers and hope. My guess is they are gone though.

Do you get along with the neighbours? Have you consider that they may have been poisoned? Because if this is natural you would expect the other trees to be more damaged. If it was grubs you would expect them to hurt the grass a bit more…

Unfortunately some of they just turn up their toes in this heat. It can be of absolutely any reason. We had 30 bushes all planted at exactly the same time from the same stock, one day about 20 died. Turned themselves into sticks. I tried to help them back to life but to no avail.

Dead as a mackerel. Remove and replant, then water properly in times of heat and drought.
