STOP Buying Every Plant! 🌿 My 2026 No Buy Challenge (Walmart Plano, TX)
Is 2026 the year we stop “collecting” and start “curating”? Today I’m heading to the Walmart Supercenter in Plano, Texas, for a massive January restock of houseplants, but there’s a catch: I’m on a 2026 No Buy Challenge. 🚫πŸͺ΄

In this video, we go big-box store plant shopping to see if I can resist the temptation of the brand-new Costa Farms drop. We’re looking at some of the most budget-friendly, easy-care houseplants of the year, discussing the 2026 plant market pricing, and exploring a major mindset shift: moving from a “Collector of Plants” to a “Curator of Plants.”

Will I leave empty-handed or will the new 2026 stock get the best of me? Stick around for the final verdict at the end!

  1. Plant Foldies, will you also try the "No Buy Challenge"? What Plants did you see in this video that you like? Let me know in the comments section. Let's open and grow a fun plant discussion here.

  2. I just hit the hype button for this awesome plant shopping video πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  3. Congratulations Richie you did the challenge! I’ll try it as well next month πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

  4. I am to trying to refrain from buying a new plant myself. I would like a sanseveria moonshine or a Matilde hoya. Trying to tell myself that I need to enjoy and take care of what I have.

  5. 24:10 The Dieffenbachia is so beautiful, but I wouldn't buy it because the one I have keeps trying to go to plant heaven, so I chop and prop… it's a never ending cycle!πŸ˜‚

  6. Richie, you set an awesome example of staying strong and not buying any plants!πŸŽ‰πŸ’ͺ🚫πŸͺ΄

  7. Over the last year or two I have also been switching my mindset from collector to curator. After being in the plant world for about 5 years I have learned which plants I love and which plants grow well for me, so I no longer buy on a whim. I am careful when I make my purchases. I think, once the little dopamine hit wears off, will I enjoy this plant for the long run πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  8. I'm TRYING to not buy plants, but I'm not doing very well. I've bought one plant so far this month, and I'm physically going to Walmart tomorrow for the first time in months. The month is almost over, so I guess that's not too bad. I agree with your point on how people seem to be going more towards curation and away from collecting. I'm also trying to go more towards curation. I've been tossing a plant or two every few days.
