im re potting her today but last night I came across these… holes? bites? the dirt doesn't seem to have any little animals that I could see and the plant are indoors so unless one of the cats bit it, I have no idea where these came from!

also any recommendations for soil / rocks / how to layer it, would be really appreciated. I just moved so I've been using miracle grow only

Might be mealy bugs based on that little white fluff in the second picture. I’ve been battling a small outbreak for a while and they keep returning to my golem jade

One of my outdoor graptopetalums has holes too! But I can’t figure the reason. No way it was my cat.

Hey, not sure what the holes could be but for soil, you want to be ½ organic, ½ inorganic. Get a bag of cactus/succulent soil, and a bag of perlite for starting off. No layering necessary. Just add some perlite to the soil till you have about an even mixture of both and that will be good. And if you aren’t already, I would try bottom watering too. It’ll help with getting perlite everywhere since it likes to float away.

Gang violence. Do you happen to have cactuses?
