I put these black eyed Susan seeds in the fridge on 12/25, then sowed them in cells Saturday 1/24. Today I saw that several already germinated! Hopefully I can keep them going until it's time to plant outside. Do I really need to wait until the last frost (predicted for 5/1 in zone 5b). I might have been a little premature with my planting but it's been a loooong January.

How I judge when to transplant them outdoors is when their outdoor counterparts start to show above ground. Yours will be farther along having started indoors, but you need to know where a patch is located outside and watch for the first signs of them coming back, then you can plant. Also, make sure you get your seedlings slowly adjusted to being outside, or your hard work will be ruined by shock. I think black eyed susans are fairly cold hardy, based on myself having some in the yard that lived through early winter snow when everything else died back.
That makes sense, I’ll keep an eye out for the ones already planted outside, thanks!
