Two people were hospitalized Tuesday evening following an explosion at a home in Bell Gardens.
Firefighters extinguished flames shortly before 7:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 6500 block of Purdy Avenue at a two-story home, where crews fought defensively against the blaze, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Two people were taken to the hospital following the knockdown of the fire.
KCAL reported, citing information from officials at the scene, that one of the victims was a child.
Fire officials confirmed that all utilities were shut off at the residence and that the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
