After six years of trial and error, my veggie garden is finally becoming (almost) self-sufficient.

In this video, I share 5 permaculture methods that helped me grow more food with less effort — while creating a healthier, more resilient permaculture veggie garden.

This is a real, working garden built around slow living, sustainable gardening, and working with nature instead of constantly fighting pests, weeds, and burnout. If you love gardening but struggle with time, energy, or consistency, this approach might be exactly what you’re looking for.

In this video, you’ll see:

– Natural pest control using flowers and beneficial insects
– How I let the soil become my seed bank
– Layering plants to save space and protect crops
– Chop and drop mulching to reduce inputs and build soil health
– Using Perennials and Overwintering plants to lessen annual planting
– A real-life wicking bed update after more than a year in use

These permaculture methods have helped me reduce workload, improve soil health, and fall love with gardening as a slow, seasonal practice rather than a never-ending to-do list.

If you’re interested in permaculture, slow living, sustainable food gardens, or why gardening can be such a powerful solace in a chaotic world, I hope this video encourages you to build a system that supports you back.

  1. Don't Warrigal Greens need to be cooked? I'd avoided them for that reason. Perpetual spinach seems to go quite well here though. Next year will be the third for my Asparagus, hoping I'll get a crop, although some seem to have gone worse this year, than year one!

  2. I am currently 3 minutes into your video and just want to say I am 100% in love with you ❤😂🌱🏵
I love everything you have said so far! Think I am going to be a little obsessed with your channel now 🥰

  3. Is your entire veggie garden netted? It appears so. I have so many battles with possums and birds…

  4. New to permaculture. But been interested in it for ages. I think permaculture and regenerative farming is the way of the future.
