For a lettuce that tastes good even when things heat up, try Egyptian stem lettuce. I harvested romaine like leaves several times from the same plants, then when they began to bolt, the whole plant is harvested for its stems.
I love spinach and I have tried for many years to grow it. But for some reason I am never successful. I tried different months, different soil but for some reason it just doesn’t happen.

Im on the southern end of the cold rock in the north sea, its too early!
If we dont use unfiltered rainwater this year we are poisoning our crops and ourselves with heavy metals from the chemtrails.
Im putting up more tunnels. Im not eating anything grown outdoors.
Do you buy your compost? I make good compost at home but it does have weed seeds in it.

You have an awful potting mix if it has so many twigs and of such a caliber.. Sadly, most potting mixes are of poor quality in France too, it's hell to find a good one…
Also I'm surprised you're not sowing the main thing I'm sowing now, which are cabbages. I can't grow cabbage in summer because it's hot and dry in my area, so I aim at harvesting my cabbage in late may/june. And so I need to sow now, and transplant late feb/early march. That goes for all types, cauliflower, broccoli, green cabbage, red cabbage…
Just starting to get myself set for the new gardening year. Question: Can I direct sow a line of mange tout every couple of weeks from late March through till June and get a continuous crop? Can I do this with other veg?
I thought you were not supposed to transplant root vegetables, like radishes?

Thanks for a great video Ben! Are you sowing 2 broad beans per module with the idea of taking one out after germination, or will you plant both together, as your other mulitsown seeds? It only shows one per module in the next shot, but this seems rather wasteful!
Imagine owning a property or a greenhouse, or having disposable income lol. I guess I'll just buy these from my local price-gouging supermarket instead. Cool channel though. Maybe I'll use AI to tell me about what nature is and how to connect with it.

Word of warning on lettuce: this crop can freeze super easily, and once it thaws, it'll be brown and droopy, rendering it inedible. Often, though, if the plant is grown under cover, even if said cover still gets around freezing, it seems to survive. My experience is that out in the open, even just -1°C can quickly kill lettuce, especially young lettuce, while broccoli seedlings, for example, do just fine unless it gets really cold. The same quality that makes lettuce leaves so tender and pleasing also makes them fragile. Lettuce also seems to have a penchant for stretching out as seedlings if grown indoors. You really have to use a fan and direct lighting to strengthen them from the very beginning.

Dorset here. Will go out this morning and try to cram as many of these into my tiny 6' x 4' greenhouse. Lettuce, radish, Peas and Beetroot (in fact I planted some of those beets a month ago and they are slowly gaining ground!) I think it was. Better go and check my seed stocks and get going before storm Chandra drops another load–even had the Loo gurgling during the night but the culvert is gushing like Niagra falls.
