  1. We've made the garden plan from this video available in our Garden Planner – it's a sample plan called ''The Lazy Gardener's Best Vegetables". Once you've opened it, you can make any changes you like to it, then get planting dates for everything specific to your exact location. There's a link to the 7 day free trial in the description. We hope it's useful!

  2. It's too cold to plant right now, but that's not as concerning as trying to determine where I could plant lettuce that won't be immediately demolished by the local rabbit population. And if it isn't the rabbits, it's the deer… Ah well, container gardening on the patio it is..

  3. Do you have spanish forest slugs? They are invasive for us and destroy so much. I always keep wondering if you and other youtubers have the same problem?

  4. Does the Garden Planner cover Japan yet? Last time I tried it, it wasn’t very accurate of when to plant out and didn’t have Japanese seed catalogues etc. Which is a pity because I did like designing with the planner.

  5. Oh wow I had no idea the garden planner compensated for different countries! I'm in Australia so I've only really explored the plant spacing and planning functionality. I assumed nothing else would work for me. I'll have to pop back in and explore the other features!

  6. I planted 4 sun golds last summer and I think I got to eat one tomato. Every time my partner was in the garden, he ate them all. 😂❤ They’re so good he’d tell me. And every time I’d reply, how would I know? Two old farts gardening. We’re having fun

  7. I was trying to figure out why i just can't stop watching these videos. Sir, you are the Steve Erwin of Gardening. 😄❤

  8. This is the year! I am going to plant my first garden. Your videos are extremely helpful!

  9. Excuse you? When did you film this?
I am watching from the Netherlands on my left side and on my right side is the view to a big pack of snow. So this video wasn't recorded recently
It has been freezing cold since Christmas snow or no snow

  10. Jan 2026.
Given the state of geopolitics and the inevitabilty of Trumperialiasm I am now cancelling my Netflix subscription and signing up for the garden planner.

I doubt I shall look back

  11. I am using your guide for the first time this season. I saw it last year but didn't bother. Planning my grow beds and seeing how they will change during the year has been very gratifying to put together. 😊

  12. I live in a rural area in the foothills of NorCal, zone 9. One of my favorite perennial veggies is Cardoon. Easy as tomatoes to start from seed, they are mostly no-care, grow happily in my clay soil, and even if it gets to 100 degrees F (38 C), seldom need water once established. We get snow occasionally, which also is not a worry. As a relative of artichokes, I'm provided with delicious leaf stems from Dec – May, and they reseed themselves happily, so I've got more coming up every year, with my mature plants being 10+ years old. The bees adore the blooms, and I just get cut them down to the ground in fall, to resprout when we get winter rains. No pests, but HUGE, so are good at the back of the bed. Cardoon in soups are delicious, with an artichoke flavor and I utilize them all during the cold months.

  13. Great video, thank you! It would be good to add in a few flowers for the pollinators too. Edible ones even better!

  14. Any link to buy the lettuce and spinach recommended? Checked the description but found nothing.

  15. I've been using the Garden Planner for a few years now and have found it to be terrific. With the added Seed Inventory feature, I'm REALLY ready to get going on my 2026 garden!!!

  16. I do so love your videos especially here in very snowy very cold Michigan. I do have one suggestion; can you do a video for those of us who grow in community gardens? Your suggestions are wonderful but often they take longer to come to harvest than someone working in a community garden would have. Those of us who rent our homes and have to rent out a place to garden still want to have easy to care for, quick to harvest food and you recommending varieties and planting times would be immeasurably helpful for us.

  17. One of my goals for this new year is to improve my diet and learn how to produce my own food. This video cleared up many doubts.

  18. Always appreciate the enthusiasm Ben but from June 12/25 the death cults ramped up the chemtrails.
Growth slowed and July growth was minimal, plants were static in my tunnel until August and melons were a disaster.

  19. This year I'm going to filter the water butt water because of the metal contaminates in rain water
    Otherwise were poisoning ourselves.
