Come join me for a friendly visit in my Florida zone 10a garden as we finally uncover the plants after the freeze! 🥶 It’s the moment of truth—we’ll walk through together to inspect for frost damage and see if our protective measures worked.
While we definitely found some damage, there were some happy surprises too! My native swamp milkweed is waking up, and the seedlings in the garden room are safe. That survival energy inspired me to get back to planting, so stick around as we start new swamp milkweed seeds and up-pot my zinnias and coneflowers for spring. Let’s see what made it! 🦋

Great video Susan! I was ready for a seedlings one! I was also inspired so I ordered some California Giant Zinnias. 🌸🌼🌺
It was good to see the freeze didn’t get your plants too bad this time. Hopefully the next freeze will be easy on you.
Thank you for getting us in the mood to start some seeds! 🩷🦋🐛🌺🐦⬛🌱🐿️🦓🌻
Currently 0° in my neck of the woods. Feels like -14°. 50% chance of snow for Saturday. 100% chance of snow on Sunday (6-12 inches). It's so cold, the streets are cracking. 🥶
oh my the seedlings are gonna take over when the freeze goes away, I just know it!!! so soooo glad you started the seeds early on, and many more milkweeds!!!!!❤️❤️❤️ that sulfur must be so hungryyyy too, dear god please no more of the cold weather 😰😰😰
spring will come eventually 🌱🌱🌱
It is currently a whopping -4 degrees with the wind chill and the snow is arriving in the burgh that we just left about an hour ago. I will keep you posted. Stay warm and stay safe down there
I check the extended forecast every day in winter . . . and I can't help but think Mother Nature is having a jolly good laugh at our re-zoning to 10A. LOL – We have temps as low as 27 degrees expected – with 4 days at or below freezing! I feel like this is the most extreme cold we've had since 2010 (which decimated my tropical garden). I'm pretty sure I'm a glutton for punishment though as I have several orders of tropicals headed my way. Such is the life of a gardener. 🥰
