Shoppers are praising a compact Ryobi pruning saw that’s ‘better than even hoped for’ and already helping households save money on tree surgeons. Lightweight, safe, and easy to use, the 18V One+ Cordless 15cm Pruning Saw is designed for the trimming of trees and shrubs, pruning, limbing, and cutting up garden waste – and now it is priced at £99.99 on Ryobi Tools’ site, discounted from £119.99 using our online exclusive code ‘PRUNE20’.
Part of the Ryobi 18V ONE+ system, which includes more than 200 cordless tools for home, garden, automotive, and crafting projects, this mini saw fits easily into any toolkit. According to the website, its cordless design means there’s no setup or expertise required, users can simply insert the battery and start pruning straightaway.
The Ryobi saw is ideal for slicing through ‘small branches and logs up to 13cm in diameter’, the site says. Its lightweight 2.5kg body and grip allow for single handed use, if needed, while the compact design lets buyers reach tight spaces and prune at any angle or height.
The tool boasts a two-stage trigger and bar cover to prevent accidental misuse. The tool also features ‘tool-less chain tensioning’ for quick adjustments and a 4.4m/s chain speed powered by an 18V motor, making it efficient and easy to handle.
With an 18V ONE+ 2.0Ah battery, which is included, it can make up to 65 cuts on 60mm hard wood on a single charge, making it ideal for keeping plants healthy, reducing disease spread, or preparing firewood. There are also some great options available from Currys – for example the Black + Decker 18V Cordless Jigsaw for £59.99, reduced from £68.99.
This weighs a light 2.6kg and is said to be suitable for wood, plastic and metal, as well as having an 18 V battery. Another option is the Guild 160mm Circular Saw for £50 from Argos.
This one is said to be useful for ‘producing long, straight cuts up to 52mm deep’ and is ideal for cutting and trimming doors, worktops, boards and sheet material, which makes it a versatile choice for shoppers.
Back to the Ryobi Tools saw, however, which has been rated highly. On Trustpilot, the brand has an overall ‘Excellent’ rating, with an average 4.6 out of five stars from more than 66,000 reviews.
One person said: “Better than even hoped for! I have pollarded a large Magnolia tree in my garden, done a slightly smaller one in my mum’s garden, and started on my 2nd Magnolia. The pruning saw made light work of the job, and all on less than one charge, so far! Last year I paid £85 just for one tree to be pruned! This tool has already saved me money! I will be looking at adding other tools from the Ryobi cordless range come next pay day!”
Another said: “Great addition to the range from Ryobi, just what I need as I get older.” A third commented: “One good tool for cutting and pruning.”
One person did question the battery life, saying: “Too early to tell, properly. However, it cuts well and seemed to cope with the first few pieces I cut. The battery seems to run out quicker than anticipated as well.”
Overall, most people were pleased, as someone else wrote: “Great piece of kit. I used it to cut down three shrubs and it worked great. Definitely recommend.”
