Lime Garden have announced their second album.

The Brighton four-piece will release ‘Maybe Not Tonight’ on April 10 via So Young Records, following up their 2024 debut LP ‘One More Thing’.

Produced by Charlie Andrew and drummer Annabel Whittle, and written by the band after a tough period they describe as a “mass breakup,” the album tackles grief, drinking, body image and self-esteem, while following the arc of a night out. Vocalist-guitarist Chloe Howard explained:

“The album is about a night out, from start to finish. As the night progresses, you’re having a great time, until your ex walks in with someone else. You hate the way you look but rather than going home, you press the big red button and get even more drunk. Eventually, you take yourself home full of melancholy, chaos and anger.”

As a preview, the band have shared the lead single, 23, a dancey indie track built on an upbeat, bouncy bassline that buzzes with the excitement of walking into a club at the start of a night out. Check out the accompanying Sal Redpath-directed below.

Howard said: “23 the concept was born from a dream I had where I was talking to my younger self. In the dream I was essentially ripping into my own personality and lack of success. 23 the song was born on a rainy January afternoon, a Happy Mondays–inspired jam paved the way for the main bassline.”

She continued: “By making this record, we’ve come back to what it felt like when we started the band. When we were 17 and thought we were the shit, and nobody could tell us different. We’ve got this fresh feeling that we deserve to be here. That’s a special thing.”

The album will also include the band’s earlier single, the title track, released last November marking their first new music since their previous album.

Lime Garden have several live shows lined up over the coming months, including appearances at So Young Weekender in Southampton later this week and Get Together Festival in Sheffield in May. They’ll also tour the UK in October. Tickets are on sale now.
