I was just reminded of this photo I took over the summer of a philodendron verrucosum offshoot (on the left) taken from a mother plant (on the right) that has lived in a bioactive vivarium for 3 years.
In the vivarium the humidity is approximately 90%. The verrucosum has never really sized up and all offshoots and new growth tend to look a little sickly. I think this reflects an inadequate level of nutrients available in the vivarium.
I decided to take the tiny plant and root it in stratum in ambient in the hopes to grow a large one up a moss pole. The second photo is fairly recent. It has maintained beautifully dark leaves even after transitioning it to a moss pole. I fertilize the pole though, fyi.
This is a Philodendron verrucosum “Amazon Sunset”.
