  1. My favorite petunia last in my greeenhouse. I lost them -17 when we lost power. I only heat a half water barrel in the greenhouse to protect plants all winter. A power bank protects the power back up now. The flowers showing color in the greenhouse all winter were a real joy.

  2. Should these Wintery Plants be Pot Planted like normal by adding fertilizers & such? Thanks for a great idea Video ♥ I've never even considered this.

  3. I completely forgot about hellebores. I had planted some years ago when I lived elsewhere. The Lowes here really doesn't have any flowers now. However, I will be looking around. Thank you for the video.

  4. I never thought of heather ! I think I will try to find some. And double check my zone, as I have pots on a stoop.
I love the shrubs, but don't want anything that permanent!

  5. Thank you very much for this interesting video. You are lucky you are in zone 8. Here in zone 5 B where I am one year I had two boxwoods with inslulated pots, and they still both died. Maybe becuase they were small and recently trimmed to give them a better shape. Pansies, indeed are very cold resistend and I also usually plant them in the fall and they most of the time survive even very hard winters and might be the first to bloom in spring. Wintergreens could work in the climate we have around Toronto, I have never tried them yet, but I see they require acidic soil, so if I plant them, they would not work with other plants which like neutral or more alkalined PH. I love periwinkle – I have a variegated kind and it even blooms in the late fall, stay alwys green.

  6. Great video! I have never even heard of winter green ground cover plant. It would be so pretty in a pot. I brought my pansies inside for a few nights as it got to 20 plus stacked with snow. They look great inside too but will go back outside tomorrow when temps are warmer. Thanks for all the information.

  7. These are really nice, especially hellebores, however I have a small spruce and apparently it is white spruce or Canadian spruce (very similar if not the same to those at the end of the video). I have always found conifers special

  8. O My! WHAT a treasure trove of detailed cultural information on each plant. VERY well researched and helpful. Thank you, Pam!!

  9. If your new greenhouse is beautiful, I love it. I’m watching your video this morning on my big screen with my coffee. Good morning.

  10. Love this idea! I have a large deck that is a perfect space for this. Just what I need to get me thru the browns of winter.

  11. Hi Pam, Thank you for this fun video and for the great list of plants for winter interest! I’m in Zone 8A, Charlotte, NC and if we have our typical Winter it gets cold but we rarely have more than three or four days in a row with temperatures below freezing. I use Pansies, Ornamental Kale, Heucheras and a few different Liriope grasses. If the Wiinter is fairly mild , my Dusty Millers will last in my pots as well. Take care and enjoy your week! 👌🪴🥰

  12. Hi Pam,

quick/random question, I absolutely love foxgloves but I do know they can be toxic. How have you been able to keep your cats/animals safe? do they go by the foxgloves or do you have them planted away?
I'd love to get a peach one but I'm unsure about adding another one in my garden

  13. In Seattle ivy is an invasive species and even the fancy hybrids are a problem in my yard as birds eat the berries and drop the seeds when they poop. There is such a thing as ivy deserts. Look it up.
