The Growin’ Gardeners program at Dow Gardens offers weekly, one-hour sessions where kids and parents learn about insects, weeds, and plant biology while caring for a four-foot by four-foot plot in the Children’s Garden.
Participants can choose a class that fits their schedule on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between June 9 and July 30. The Thursday evening class is sold out. To be added to the waitlist for Thursday, call 989-631-2677.
Staff and volunteers will be nearby to help every step of the way.
Participants will tackle real garden maintenance like watering, weeding and planting with tips and guidance from Dow Garden experts.
The garden has new protective fencing that will help protect participants’ hard work and support a bountiful harvest.
The cost is $80 per family and includes supplies, plants, and admission for children in the family. Adults must have an annual admission card. At least one child must be 4 years or older, but everyone in the family is welcome to participate.
Growin’ Gardeners offers fun, hands-on garden lessons over eight weeks, helping young growers build confidence and curiosity as they learn real skills in planting, tending, and harvesting.
It’s a good fit for families who want to try gardening together for the first time or keep kids involved in the garden all summer long.
