CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – If you are looking for gardening space, now is the time to apply for it.

Charlottesville is now accepting applications for garden plots in the city.

The program has been around for more than 50 years and there are about 127 plots located across parts of the city.

“A lot of it is people that just want top get their hands dirty and they want to have some connection to nature. We see a lot of passionate people that are out there almost every day maintaining their plots making sure they have enough food for their families as well,” Charlottesville Parks & Recreation Garden Plot Supervisor Justin McKenzie said.

Applications are currently open for people living in the city and open for everyone February 1.
