Hey y'all,
Recntly picked up this little moss enclosure and I was wondering what to do about the dry moss. Can I remove it? Can it be rehydrated? Should I trim it back? Any advice would be appreciated

Yea remove all of it and put some actual moss in there instead. Does it have a bit of glass that covers the hole?

  2. That’s actually a selaginella and not a moss btw

The dry moss looks like it might be long fiber sphagnum moss, used as a substrate or top dressing. You can trim it or remove it entirely, but it’s probably there to help keep the soil damp.

I would hit this with filtered water from a spritzer every now and then. Spike moss likes moderately high humidity and bright, indirect light. eta filtered water just to keep the glass from getting spotty, so it’s a want not a need.

It looks like it has outgrown its container
