  1. @Luke

You gotta grow or get your hands on ORANGE sweet (bell &/or other) peppers. πŸ™‚
    Oh and sweet thai basil

And I'm hearing you say your doing 'Mexican oregano'! Glad to hear that, homie!!! πŸ™‚

  2. I just had to pause after the eggplant. We're in zone 3, central Canada, with a short growing seasons and it's pretty hard to grow eggplant here. We tried the Turkish Orange eggplant last summer. We had a weird growing year that included drought, heat waves, smoke from wildfires, and cold nights. They don't handle cold well, and a cold night in the spring set them back quite a bit. It took ages for them to flower, and some plants never did. Yet, I found they recovered from cold surprisingly well. We ended up bringing the green eggplants inside to ripen in the fall, and that worked really well.

    The downside?

Turns out one member of our household seems to be allergic to them. She's never reacted to eggplant before she tried these ones. 😒😒

  3. You should 100% try the Korean Melon, if you have not already… A summer staple that tastes like a cross between a cucumber and cantalope with yellow and white stripes.

  4. When I saw the alma paprika pepper come back in stock I immediately ordered a pack. I see they're back out of stock now so I'm glad I didn't wait!

  5. Love your channel. These were great ideas for cooking. Could you throw in some cooking videos using some of these foods?

  6. I have been growing grey zucchini because it has been more resistent to squash bugs than other zucchini, such as black zucchini.

  7. Great to see your videos again Luke! I wasn't on YouTube for a while and you were one the first garden channels I started following back in the day! I am going to try all of these! Is there a way to buy them through you to support the channel? πŸ’šπŸ¦šπŸ’š

  8. It's fun getting new varieties to try. I have a few fun ones this year, too. I actually really like substituting other varieties for the traditional kinds in recipes for some varying flavors than you'd get at restaurants and such, but there are some truly authentic ones that you can't beat, so it gets challenging to narrow down what to prioritize sometimes. πŸ€™

  9. I grew Optika napa cabbage here in NYS and it was easy to grow and excellent. Also, Emerite french bean it was also excellent.

  10. I'm zone 7B East Coast NJ. Wish I could grow Kafir Limes for their leaves, curry leaves, ginger root, and coconut. Not at all interested in moving to a hot climate so I doubt I'd ever grow those. Between yourself and Sindy I have things in common with you. I love international cooking, art, and of course gardening. I know your family is super busy, however if you ever decide to create an additional channel an internationally themed cooking channel would be fun!

  11. Mexican Oregano has been a life saver for me… I have 5 TNF-a chronic immune diseases and this is herb is actually being studied as an immune pathways regulator. I've had excellent success with it… do your own research, of course… but if you have a hyperactive immune disease you will definitely want to do the research. It is known to reregulate the NLRP3 immune pathways. I hope this helps someone.

  12. LITERALLY choosing my seeds right now!

Last year squash were my stand-out crop, but I'm going to try corn again.
I found out the hard way that they cross breed very easily if you live in a windy area. πŸ˜‰

  13. Regarding the Turkish eggplant, I grew them last summer and thought they tasted awful. Do they need to be unripe? They did become orange.

  14. My favorite Mexican restaurant makes their own salsa and I asked which pepper they use because it's so good. Chile de arbol! So I ordered some seeds. πŸ™‚

  15. Giving me ideas for spring/summer. This is better than a catalog. πŸ™‚

One comment .. cipollini .. ci in Italian is pronounced like "chi" as in cheese .. not a soft s like you used.:D.

  16. How fun! Your description of Korean food made me want to grow it all. I would love to grow sesame seeds due to the fact that my family uses a lot of them, and I’d like to avoid pesticides/herbicides. I wish you had seeds for those.

I recommend the cookbook Eating Korean by Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee for delicious and authentic Korean recipesπŸ˜‹

  17. Hey Luke, I planted asparagus from seed last year and I know you have to wait at least to year three to harvest any kind of Spears. P I just wanted you to confirm that that is true or should I wait to year four to actually start harvesting some of the Spears?

  18. That’s awesome. I’ll be trying the bitter melon and the Jicama. I’ve got family members that are Latin and Filipino.❀ This is fun! Happy New Year everyone πŸŽ‰
