Plant products don’t always look super cute. After all, it’s what you’re growing that’s going to impress, right? While I’ve got a vast collection of plant pots that I love, any other gardening-related products have failed to catch my eye. But, it doesn’t always have to be one or the other – and IKEA’s new collection is proof of exactly that.
In a suitably curious product name, the Doftrips collection is for those who love to garden and especially for those who love to do it indoors. There are 12 brand new products now live, but here are the three I’ve got my eye on – a plant starter set, a two-pack of self-watering inserts, and possibly the cutest two-pack of plant trellises I’ve ever seen.

It feels like it makes the most sense to start with, well, a plant starter set. It’s giving me slight flashbacks to sterilizing baby bottles, but once I got past that niche memory, it’s actually more like a miniature greenhouse.
Inside the growing tray with a dome top, you get four growing pots and four plant supports to help your seeds flourish into full-blown plants while housed in a lovely warm environment. Plus, there are openings to let the air travel through. It’s got everything you need, but it looks good too.

Next up, a two-pack of self-watering inserts. At first glance, they look like little mushrooms. Turns out, they’re actually pretty big mushrooms holding 14oz of water each and propping up out of the soil in a rather eye-catching fashion.
So, if you’re pretty forgetful or you travel a lot but you still really care about keeping your plants alive, this is the perfect solution, slowing releasing water to keep the soil moist. And it’ll be hard to forget to fill them up considering how big they are.

Last, but by no means least, the two-pack of plant trellises and by far my favorite item from the new range. Minimalist, yet playful shapes, they’re inspiring me to garden, which is something I don’t say a lot.
The trellises are for both indoor and outdoor use, propping up in your plant pots to encourage your plants to grow round them. But honestly, even if your plants don’t end up growing like you want them to, these trelisses would look great regardless.

IKEA is well-versed in producing products that strike the perfect balance between design and price – and the DOFTRIPS gardening products are both affordable and lovely to look at.

I’m not a huge gardener, but if I was thinking of getting into it for a New Year’s resolution or just when I fancy starting a new hobby, a plant starter set is the perfect opportunity to get going.
Fortunately, with a reasonable price for each product, I’m already imagining those trellises in my plant pots, too.
So, if you’re thinking of getting into gardening or maybe you’re already a bit of a green thumb, this could be exactly what you need. And you’re not having to make a huge investment to try them out.
