Mary Raymond, a member of the Naples Garden Club, will be the guest speaker at the Calusa Garden Club’s first meeting of 2026 on Monday, January 12, at 12:15 PM in Rose Hall of the Marco Island Public Library. The public is invited to attend.
Raymond, a judge for the Garden Club of America and the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, willdemonstrate leaf manipulation using Areca Palm fronds.She will show how weaving leaves can produce inspiring and variousdesign styles from traditional to free flowing.In addition to teaching the skill, Raymond will discuss the attributes, elements, and principles of design to produce a complete composition.Attendees will have a chance to see some of her creations that are years old and that she still uses in home and garden tours. Bring three Areca Palm fronds, a stapler, and a clipper if you would like to try your hand at leaf manipulation. This is a unique opportunity to see and learn about this botanical art form.
Calusa Garden Club is a member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, and membership is open to those interested in horticulture, floral design, and environmental matters residingfive months or more in Collier County. Calusa Garden Club meets the second Monday inthe months of October and November, and January through March, at the Marco Island Public Library.
