it’s all gone a little bit OTT at The Farmyard Garden this week. In this episode I continue to clear beds and prep for winter. In my quest to have the most colourful display in Spring and early summer, I decide to plant many, many spring bulbs. In fact, I go somewhat overboard on the purchases but are we real surprised to hear I am addicted to bulb shopping?! I am really hoping to transform the areas I’ve planted.

There’s a fair bit of tidying away, as the garden is still winding down in winter. Once all of these jobs are finished I’ll be able to really get going with the bigger winter projects for the garden.

There is yet another Christmassy shopping video included here and another new horse for the household…sort of!

  1. Hi Clare, wow! You have lots of bulbs to plant! It will look gorgeous when they all appear. Nice harvest of carrots & parsnips. What a lovely dog Dexter is ❤ a great video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

  2. Something tells me you're fond of spring bulbs Clare 🤔 Well done getting them all planted. Your garden will look absolutely fantastic when they all come into flower next spring

  3. I'm glad you're planting bulbs. I'm a newbie and I thought I'd bought way too many 🤷🏼‍♀️

  4. Blimey! I haven't bought any!! 😮 am on the low budget end of budget so I'm hoping January bulbs still 'make it'
    Your bulbs will be amazing. 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹 🏵

  5. Well done on your bulb planting. May I suggest that when planting in large numbers like that you take off the top layer of soil. Strew the bulbs and then recover. I have heard that even if the bulbs are not right way up they will grow and right themselves in time. Even more applicable in your orchard when planting under grass.

  6. Wow spring willlook glorious with a swathe of flowers, loving the reindeer hat this week, tulips are my favourite garden flower but mice eat my bulbs so not so many survive to flower,Thankyou for another interesting podcast xx

  7. Great vlog again Clare, especially at this time of year when content is a little scarce. Your garden will be a sight to behold in spring and a source of early pollen for the bees .

  8. Hello Clare, who would have thought it, that you haven't got enough bulbs.😂
Can't wait to see them all in flower.🌷🪻⚘️
It will be flowers everywhere in spring and it will look amazing 🤞❤️

  9. lol I may have done the same a few years ago with that many bulbs 😂, I’m at the point now that anytime I dig a hole to put a annual in I dig up a bulb or five 😂 I literally don’t have a inch of my garden left that isn’t full of bulbs. 😂 , I also have lots of pots full of bulbs too 🫣 lol , but it’s so pretty in spring and who can resist bargain bulbs right!

  10. Blue Diamond has just announced better-than-expected profits, driven by higher-than-expected spring bulb sales.

  11. Great video I think if you just do a little block paving patch metre by a metre in front of your compost bins or something you will learn a lot before tackling a bigger area

  12. Well I’m sure there’s a group you can join 😂😂 I know seedaholics anonymous had thought of creating a new arm bulbaholics but no one showed up as it was bulb sale time 🤣🤣🤣. If it makes you happy Clare just do it. I would love to see all those flowers now but we will wait with great anticipation ❤❤, Ali ☔️☔️☔️☔️🇨🇦

  13. 😂 we’re all guilty of over indulgence when it comes to gardening. Tools, bulbs, seed potatoes, you name it and at one time or another we have all done it 😂😂😂😂😂 me included ❤

  14. I can’t wait to see the spring flowers. Are you still going to have room for vegetables?

  15. Wow Clare so many spring bulbs! Your garden is going to look amazing in the springtime. 🌷🌷🌷😃

  16. Very much enjoying the festive hats on your episodes – can’t believe you’ve managed to plant hundreds of bulbs and still need more!!! Will look wonderful
    In the spring x

  17. Think you’ve rubbed off on me went to Wolsey garden center and got a good amount of bulbs reduced so on a dry day this week I will have to get them in 😊

  18. I was thinking if your mower knows the difference between grass and flowers and you said edging is needed 😄.
You showed before what great prices on most of the bulbs—nice! What a show next spring 🎉
Since the voles arrived I’m not planting more till they are gone. I just dug large holes and dropped them in a couple years back—pre voles 😡I have an auger on a drill, but that got old also. I seem to always find bulbs when digging around 🙄🥴.
    It’s temp rollercoaster week here—Yee Ha! 😵‍💫

  19. Clare may I offer two suggestions, one is to get a bulb planting bit for your drilling two plant channels rather than individual holes. Good luck!

  20. More bulbs than the garden centre!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 All that hard work planting them will be so worth it come the spring!! 👍👍👍

  21. Wow Clare, that is a massive amount of bulbs but it will be so worth it in spring and who can resist another garden centre trip to get more 🌷🤩

  22. Hi I forgot to say don't let your crushed stone get too wet or the wacker plate will just bring all the water up and stick the wacker plate down and don't let the sand get to work call it will come up through all the blocks when you try to work at them down😊

  23. Hello my name is Clare and I'm a bulb-a-holic…….but I don't want to be cured🤣🤣🤣
    LOL "gets" kerryed" away!
