Mitchell was born in Manistique, the son of Richard and Lois (Ansell) Beaudre-Saxon. He graduated in 1980 from Big Bay de Noc High School. He then moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked for the Foundry, manufacturing airplane parts. He married and had a son, Christopher Beaudre, in Fort Worth. He moved back to Garden, and married Darla Thomas.(WLUC)
