Typically green onions/scallions/chives grow in the 12-15 inch range but this yield I will soon be harvesting has produced some of the biggest & longest my eyes have ever seen 21, 22, 22.5 inches is redonkulous.
How about you other green onion/scallion growers out there have you ever seen any this big & long?

Yup – I’ve seen them much taller than that.
I had some green onions flop over the side of my raised bed and almost reach the ground. So, 36 inches or so. That happens when there is enough nitrogen and sunlight, relatively little competition or insect pressure, and the greens are not harvested regularly. I found the longer greens were either tough and tasteless or thin and tasteless. I like green onions better when they are harvested at around 12″ and neither tough nor thin.
