Pictures are before & after! 😩😩😩
I purchased this Alocasia around 3 weeks ago, I was letting it acclimate to its new environment as it was already in pretty chunky soil. I did add a chunky/airy soil mix to the top as it was pretty low In the pot. I watered it a week in when the soil was completely dry. It was with the rest of my plants. Temp was between 74-82 degrees. Humidity between 65-70. During that short time it lost every leaf! This is what I’m left with! Do I cut the flower off? Do I keep the flower and let it do its thing?? Is it worth trying to save? This has happened to a couple of other plants that I’ve had and they were never able to grow back so I always ended up throwing them out.

Any advice on what to do next would be greatly appreciated! I really loved this plant and it was a pretty good size! 😩

  1. Alocasias go dormant sometimes, since I moved them to moss (from soil, pon etc), they are doing much better. Maybe moss is worth a try?

Personally, I let nature take its course and leave the flowers. In situations like this, humidity is definitely key in my experience. Alocasias are resilient. My cuprea is my fastest growing alocasia; give it a little time with a dash of patience and it will bounce back before you know it

They dont want to go completely dry. It promotes rot quick. I would hurry and check the roots, it definitely looks like theres issues down under. Possibly needs a smaller pot and time to adjust and regrow. Its not over with this one yet tho 🙂

Dont feel shocked. My very healthy 2 year old silver dragon dropped all of its beautiful large leaves this winter season.

I can already see it growing a large new stem slowly. There’s no predicting what the plants will do. Just keep quenching its thirst and in good temps and it’ll grow back it leaves in no time.
