Those are monarch caterpillars! They are getting ready to go into their chrysalis stage.

I raise monarchs in the summer, it’s a fun hobby and feels good to help their population out.

“just when the catepillar thought the world had ended, it turned into a butterfly .”🐛🦋

How cool! Looks like your park trip turned into a mini nature adventure. That caterpillar’s colors are amazing!

It’s fun to hunt for the chrysalis.
They try to hide as much as possible.

So cool. It looks very different right now where I live… I’m jealous 😅

So happy you’ve found them. Their populations have declined drastically. They are now on the endangered species list as of December 2024.

Sadly, many are eaten before they have the chance to become a butterfly.

Only 1.5 out of every 100 eggs become Monarch caterpillars in the wild, otherwise, they would starve from eating up all the milkweed.

Where is this??? The milkweed still blooming!

Where are you located! It’s super cold in the ISA so this is nice to see ❤️
