I purchased a property this past summer and have been monitoring it this winter as storms have come through. It has developed a few locations where groundwater is coming out of the ground. Im assuming this is a seasonal spring when the watertable rises in late winter and finds a spot of least resistance. There is one that is concerning in the middle of the driveway. Any tips on how to address this?

Fill it with gravel.
I’d look for pipes. Could be an old irrigation or french drain or who knows what that has ruptured and is catching water from elsewhere and leaking it out there. Could be a pipe hooked to old plumbing.
Is your land flat or sloped?
A spring typically runs year round. A seep is seasonal and is usually surface water that goes underground and pops back to the surface somewhere else.
I have sloped land. In the spring time, my land appears to have 20 springs. Every one of those spots is down hill from flowage in the spring time. I can usually walk up hill until I find an area that is more moist and find where it goes under.
If your land is sloped. You might be able to go to the uphill side of the road and dig drainage in the side of the road to cut this off to keep it off the road. I have had to redirect water this way along the private road that I live by.
I did sort of a reverse french drain. Dig trench 15″ deep to side of road, fill hole with gravel leaving 15″ of space install french drain pipe, Top everything with fresh gravel. Should divert the spring to the side of the road.
Too bad its not oil
That’s a water leak
Driveway on your spring.*
Probably a pipe leak though.
Does the water come out of the ground everytime your houses sump pump runs?
Seems like a pipe leak, if it is, then address it as such. Honestly I’d divert my driveway AROUND the spring if it is a spring- seasonal or not. I’d love to see how it eventually irrigates itself and what it turned in to.
Years ago there was a construction project and water started coming up out of the ground. Oldtimers talked about an old spring in the area that had disappeared. People called it a miracle brought bottles and took water home.
It was a leaky wastewater force main.
Pipe it to holding pond and irrigate.
Two options come to mind. Move your driveway or divert the exit point for the spring.
I had one of these in the front yard at a place I lived. The pipe was broken underground and water was just bubbling up out of the front lawn. At least you know where the leak is, just got to start digging once you turn the water off.
Pipe leak. Just call your municipal water company and report it? They’ll find out what it is for you for free lol.
