So I didn’t grow this spud (unfortunately my first year gardening has not been the roaring success that my ADHD brain told me it would be lol), this is purchased from my local supermarket.

Never seen this before, and it doesn’t look like any photos of blight or mop top or scab that I can find online.

So… what causes this, anyone ever seen it?

I’m still gonna eat them, just peeling them all first, I’m just curious what may have caused it (and, is it safe to compost the peelings!)

Thanks!!

Sorry, I don’t know but am a dad

  2. Why would you eat that without knowing what’s wrong?

Silver scurf. It’s a fungal disease. Just peel the skin off, it only affects the outer layer and is still safe to eat

Did you also post this on the Coles subreddit, or have I just seen two very sick potatoes today?

I really wouldn’t like paying good money for scabby spuds. It would be “shop around for me”
