Two people are wounded and another is in custody after an early New Year’s Day shooting at a Garden City bar, police said.
Officers were called at about 4:15 a.m. Thursday to the Rockstarz Bar on Ford Road west of Farmington Road for a report that two people had been shot in the establishment’s parking area, according to authorities.
Police arrived and found two victims with gunshot wounds, they said. Officers began rendering aid and secured the crime scene, investigators said.
Medics took the two victims to a hospital, where they are listed in critical condition, officials said.
As police investigated, a person who identified himself as the alleged shooter in the incident called authorities to inform them that he intended to surrender, they said. The suspect arrived at the Garden City Police Department at about 2 p.m. and was taken into custody, officials said.
Authorities said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Rockstarz management posted a statement about the incident on the bar’s Facebook page on Thursday. It said: “Ownership and management at Rockstarz Karaoke Bar are aware of a recent incident involving a shooting in the parking lot of our establishment on Ford Road.
“We have been and will continue to cooperate with local and state police with their criminal investigation.
“To respect the privacy of all parties, including victims, and because of the ongoing investigation by law enforcement, we will not be providing any further comments or statements regarding the incident.
“We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victims and will be keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.”
The incident follows other shootings in Metro Detroit.
On Wednesday, a man was killed and another critically injured in a shooting at an apartment complex on Detroit’s west side.
On Monday, a man died after reportedly shooting himself inadvertently while driving and striking a pedestrian in Detroit.
Last week, three people were shot in Southfield, two of them fatally.
