As title says. I was checking if the branches were flexible enough to try to open them a bit and it snapped because I am an idiot and applied too much pressure. Is this salvageable? What would you advise? I tied them back together with cotton fabric but ai guess it won’t glue back? 🥺 should I cut the secondary branch and let it heal? Should I get another tree? Chances of it succeeding? 😭 I feel SO BAD.

Its basically a graft at this point. Look up videos or articles on keeping grafts healthy. But yeah, keep it wrapped and protected and it should be fine.

However, that is a weak spot so you might want to trim the right branch back to the node at the edge of frame. *of pic 3

That’s a rough spot to break and will be a weak point forever if it can heal over the wound. You’ve introduced yeasts and moisture from outside, and so there will likely be a burl that forms, and with the lateral nature of the branches after it, there will be lots of pressure to open it back up.

I would make two cuts on the branches just after the tear. Cut them off completely above the branch collar, and tie the tear together with jute, tightly.

Take the two branches and make as many cuttings out of them as possible and shove the cuttings into the ground with some sand for drainage.

Maybe the OG tree will survive and put off some growth in a place it can, and maybe some cuttings survive.
