I cant remember what species of plant this is but Ive had it for so long now! Yesterday, I saw it had these little black dots all over both on top and under the leaves (I washed it before taking a photo of these, apologies). They were very small balls that fell off when touched and surrounded the shelf the plant was sitting on, it could have been that way for 2-3 weeks as I water less during winter. I have washed the plants leaves thoroughly with a tiny bit of soap and warm water…

Searching Google this seems like could be thrips? I couldn't see any signs of the insects, I hadn't introduced any new plants in the last 3 months, I repotted this plant with new house plant soil maybe like 6 months ago? I do so inside and try to be as clean as possible. So far I can't see any signs of anything so far on any other plants. This plant sits on a high shelf in a very well lit room (not direct sun) with various other plants nearby, I do own a dog which not sure if relevant but apparently thrips can travel via pets?

This is the first time ive had something like this, usually my plants just die because of overwatering (classic) so any advice or product recommendations to ensure other plants don't get infected are appreciated! The other plants nearby are various: cacti, fig leaf, rubber plant & jade plant.

TIA reddit users!

Fatsia japonica. Yes, probably. Might be mites also but looks more thripsy.
