Happy New Year to all my family and friends. I wish you all a wonderful 2026. I really had fun with Santa’s Favorite Apples for Christmas and now I had some serious fun with 5 Fruit Related New Years Resolutions. I say serious because though it’s all in fun the suggestions i make are all real Goals that all fruit growers and lovers should commit to. The last suggestion though not as obviously connected, is one that i have practiced and benefited from since my early years of fruit and Edible landscaping. #fruittrees #gardening #fruit #newyear

  1. #3 and #4 resonate with me the most. i think next year i may remove two citrus trees that have been slow producers and sub par quality. like you said, there are way too many amazing varieties out there. sucks youvinvest 5-10 years on them but you have to move on.

  2. Ed, all great advice. I’ll be grafting over a couple of lackluster plums this winter that have disappointed me for a few seasons now. I’ve also been preaching to some of the local farmers market vendors here in so cal that are not selling by variety name. Explaining that if you’re not separating yourself from the grocery store mentality then you’re no better and no more respected than those commercial grocers. I seem to be making some progress. 👍 to good friends, good fruit and good health. Best in 2026 Tom Spellman
