I have about 30 Hoya's that I have grown from just babies. There has been so much growth in the last year since moving them to a converted IKEA cabinet. I am at the point now that I can hardly maneuver (I know, poor me 😆) in the cabinet or really see the babies. Thinking of doing a major chop but am so scared. Anyone have any advice? Did you do it and then regret it? Or did you feel lighter or like it was easier to care for them and enjoy the new leaves?

Taking cuttings is really fun for me so I am team chop. You don’t have to cut it way back, but just enough to create space to properly appreciate the different leaves.
Omg what a collection 😍!! I would chop, prop, and fill. Idk though those are all beautiful id be tempted just to keep them the way they are. But if you decide to chop, and get rid of let me know I would love some lol.
Clearly you’re doing something right! That’s an awesome collection. Not sure where you live, but if it’s a larger town then I’m sure there are some other hoya heads around that would love to take/trade cuttings.
ETA- I don’t think you’ll regret trimming them a bit, if it will make caring for them easier and improve the aesthetics. The plants certainly won’t suffer.
Do you have 2 cabinets? I’m wanting to get cabinets like that. You said converted what did you get to do that. I’m sorry if silly question.
It’s clear a lot of love and care have gone into these plants if you’re grown them from small cuttings! I love the look of a full pot, so I enjoy a good chop & prop to put back into the pot after growing roots. I also love growing out new plant babies.
Personally, I’ve never regretted chopping a Hoya. Compared to other genuses they’re a lot easier to transform into whatever look you’re going for if they become too unruly/overwhelming or just don’t like the aesthetic for whatever reason. Perhaps trellising some differently is another option or a combination of chopping and trellising! Good luck, would love to see updates 🙂
I believe this is what’s known as a “good problem to have.” Those are all beautiful!
If you’re scared to do a major chop, take a few nodes to start and get a feel for propping those. Then you can always take some more later, when you’re more confident.
You can then use those props to swap for more Hoyas for your collection (if you can’t tell, I am a major proponent of chop-prop-swap as a means of curating a collection).
