Hesper Lee Mohan was born on April 27, 1985, in Helena, MT, to Nancy Anderson and Bruce Scharf. She was the middle sister to Alicia Esterby and Sierra Sorenson.
Childhood summers were spent between Virginia City and Missoula. You could always find Hesper and her sisters outside in the sunshine, digging for rocks, running through puddles, or picking raspberries in Roger Williams Raspberry Patch.
In second grade at Emma Dickinson, she met her best friend, Rebecca (Becca) Morgan.
This friendship remained constant and true for thirty-two years. There were very few times growing up that you would see or hear about Hesper without Becca by her side.
Hesper was a talented crocheter and an adventurous chef and baker. Somehow, she always found a recipe that would take her days to arrive at the perfect cookie. Although nobody would complain about the time it took if they were lucky enough to get a taste.
There was a special place in her heart for animals—she kept dog treats at her work station for any visiting pups—but especially for cats. Her beloved kitties were so well loved and cared for. There was no stray cat to her that would be left without food, water, and perhaps a name.
Hesper was married to Kelley Mohan in 2011. From this marriage, Hesper was given the love of her life, her son, Titus, in 2016.
Born on January 23, 2016, Titus was fiercely loved by all around him from the beginning. He was a curious little boy; always asking questions and taking in the answers to better understand the world around him. His imagination led him on many adventures outdoors, through his paintings/drawings, and his Lego creations.
Titus loved his family and friends and would do anything to protect them. He was intuitive and always willing to give a kind word or a hug to those feeling down or worried. In his nine years, he left a lasting impression that will not soon be forgotten.
Hesper and Titus were both kind, compassionate, and would do anything for those around them.
Hesper could find the magic in any situation, and her willingness to share that with those that she loved never wavered.
On December 23, 2025, hearts shattered and lives changed forever when Hesper and Titus were tragically taken from us.
We may never understand why they had to go so soon, but we ask that you hold onto the incredible things that Titus gave—curiosity, bravery, care, and compassion. Carry on in life with the same kindness and joy that Hesper spread to the world. Hold their infectious smiles and love in your heart, as we all will. Let them be a shining light in the darkness when you feel lost.
