Got these both for free at garage sales. Both didn’t run but I changed the carbs / tuned them up and now they run great. The stihl feels overall better and more solid / has more power.

But I’ve only used em both a few times each.

Before you say keep one as a backup, I can’t, I need room in the garage. And I have an electric one in the basement as a back up already.

Thanks

Hard to tell from the picture, but are they both 2-cycle? If one is a 4-stroke I would keep that because mixing oil and gas is a hassle and it really sucks when your wife or kid fills the 4-stroke mower from the tank of mixed.

Otherwise go with the Stihl since they have a lot better reputation for reliability.

Echo is great. I love their chainsaws too. Sell the Stihl for more.

stihl for track record and parts availability

Stihl’s the bomb, but depends on what you are using them for. If it’s light work, pick the lighter option

I’m guessing they’re pretty equal so probably can’t go wrong. Bet the Stihl sells for more and easier, so I might sell that one.

Crew uses sthil daily, they take a beating.

Lot of commercial echos around here. Seem to be very popular.

The echo weighs quite a bit less in my experience.

Heavy use sthil. Lite use, echo. Just my opinon.
