A 46-year-old man jumped out of a window when police knocked on his door and then led officers on a chase through back gardens

An assault suspect in Birmingham tried to flee from police after jumping from a property and then trying to flee through gardens.
The suspect was pursued in the Sheldon area of the city on New Year’s Day (January 1).
Officers from the Stechford Priority Crime team knocked on his door in the morning.

The 46-year-old man was wanted for assault and tried to flee the area.
He jumped out of a window as police forced the door to the property.
He then tried to evade capture through the streets and gardens of the area, before finally being caught by officers.

The Birmingham Priority Crime team posted on X and said: “A wanted suspect was detained on Blakenhale Road, following a foot chase through streets & gardens in Sheldon Birmingham today.
“The male jumped from a window as entry was forced.
“However, he was detained a short time later and is now in custody.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “A 46-year-old man, wanted for assault, has been arrested in Sheldon following a pursuit through rear gardens in Blackenhale Road.
“He remains in custody.”
