So I scored this glass window display bottle from a vendor friend…

It sadly did not have the cork top, so I will need to make one, but I would love to do an "agave" theme. I know there is no tiny species of agave that would go in here, but succulents is what I'm thinking.

Very exciting!

Anyone know of rules to be aware of for this type of terrarium? I have never done a southwestern terrarium.

Thanks!

    Hey flauerpedia

Did you know succulents have adapted to grow and thrive in areas with limited water sources, dry periods, and bright direct light? Most terrarium spaces are the exact opposite of that which can cause terrariums to fail! If it’s your first terrarium don’t fret, we have a list of resources to help you build a successful and happy terrarium!

Have you checked out our [resource page](https://www.reddit.com/r/terrariums/wiki/index/resources/)?

  2. If you opt for succulents, you’re not going to want a top. The majority of succulents require very arid conditions and good airflow to prevent rot. I’d recommend reading through the Beginners Basic guide over on r/succulents to get the gist of succulent care. It obviously won’t be geared toward terrariums (and the sub typically actively advises against terrariums for succulents since they can be so difficult to manage and the sub is generally focused towards beginners), but it should give you an idea of what exactly succulent care entails.

Actually another thought. I wonder if any of the more miniature bromeliad species would be small enough to fit in there? It might be worth having a look, because they do have that bushy spiky leaf look while actually enjoying terrerium conditions. A lot of them are brightly coloured admittedly but I am told they go more green in lower light conditions.
