The holiday hostesses for the Garden Club of Richmond ushered in the ‘Oh What Fun’ December celebration social with beauty, enthusiasm, culinary skills and decorating fervor. The result was a social fit for dignitaries.
Hostess Whitney Leffere’s sprawling home provided a setting of endless Christmas surprises around every corner. Lefferre and her co-hostesses Deidre Doggett, Libby King, Keely Knipling, Courtney Raska and Stephanie Williams presented evergreendonned serving tables framed around a fruit Christmas wreath and charcuterie Christmas trees, salad skewers, Santa brownie hats, cranberry mousse cups, an assortment of holiday sugar cookies, merengue Christmas trees and peanut butter chocolate candy.
Savory dishes of Pier 36 gumbo, chicken skewers, crab cakes and shrimp empanadas satisfied main-course cravings, while a signature drink of White Christmas margaritas offered a holiday fare for the ladies to enjoy while sipping and chatting.
Meredith Doggett created a new addition to the festivities this year, challenging members to identify club members from a collage of their baby pictures. It presented quite a challenge, recognizing baby traits that could be identified in present-day friends.
Club President Emily Scherer thanked the hostesses for all the food and fun enjoyed by the club.
At the same time, she reminded the ladies the next meeting would be in January at The Lit Book Bar in Richmond.
