Does the pot have drainage? Could it be sitting in water?
If you soil is still wet after a month, you REALLY should repot it into fresh well draining soil ASAP.

If the soil is staying moist it may be better to put in terracotta which is porous and allows for air flow to the soil. Repotting during dormant months isn’t ideal so you can give it more light which will make the roots soak up more water.
