A festive event is back up and running after a power cut caused it to be called off. The Winter Lights at Alnwick Garden had to be cancelled on Tuesday after power went off in the Alnwick area of Northumberland.
Those who had tickets to the event were forced to miss out due to the power outage, which occurred at around 6pm. Customers were offered the choice of rebooking the tickets or claiming a refund.
Alnwick Garden has confirmed that the Winter Lights trail is now back on and will be going ahead this evening.
Victoria Watson, chief commercial officer at The Alnwick Garden said: “Yesterday (30th December) Alnwick town experienced a power cut at approx 6pm which lasted for half an hour. This affected our Winter Light Trail as by the time the power was back on, it would take another hour for the lighting programme to reboot, which would have been the last time slot on the trail.
“Northern Power Grid has assured us that it is all fixed and the Light Trail is back as normal for the rest of the scheduled duration. Every visitor who was affected by the power cut yesterday has been contacted to offer a revisit or a refund.”
Chronicle Live previously reported earlier this month how the light trail, which runs until January 4, was set for a record-breaking year. At the beginning of December 54,000 tickets had already been sold.
The trail features new expanded pathways, immersive light installations, sounds and interactive surprises.
