What is going on with my tree? I live in the San Diego area and have had this tree for maybe 20 years in a small pot. I planted it in my backyard in 2016. This past summer it sprouted all of these flowers. Does this mean it is near the end of its lifespan? I have zero training on horticulture. Thank you!

I think it’s just mature and happy. Very few long-lived plants die after a bloom.
Flowering Ponytail palm, Beaucarnea recurvata.
Normal, and does that every 5+ years for a mature plant.
Your female ponytail palm is matured enough to flower. It’s not an agave so it won’t die.
Male version will have white creamy flowers.
It is just showing off and showing its thanks for looking after it. Agave have death blooms, this is not an Agave. You have a Ponytail Palm, Beaucarnea recurvata.
Flowering? The tree looks very healthy, doubt it’s dying. Some trees take years before they start to flower.
