HAWLEY, PA — The Country Gardeners (TCG) had a fun and festive Christmas luncheon on December 4, with holiday piano music and a surprise visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, including new member Tarry Truitt.

The Clauses enlightened the group with Christmas trivia. Among other interesting facts, members learned that all of Santa’s reindeer are female (sorry, Rudolph), since both females and males grow antlers and males shed their antlers in the fall.

Everyone enjoyed celebrating the season and is looking forward to another great year.

TCG consists of local gardeners who educate each other about gardening and conservation. They meet monthly and invite guest speakers while socializing. In the interest of expanding members’ gardening knowledge, they offer information on bus and car trips. The group goes dormant in the winter but meets from April to December on the first Thursday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Brookfield Environmental Learning Center, 126 Lamberton Lane.  All are welcome to attend and admission is free.
