Local garden center was selling "Echeveria, cut ('gesneden')". Aka: just the heads! For €2,50! 😐 I wasn't sure if this counts as 'plant abuse', considering how easily they root, but having this as a box at the register just didn't sit right with me. Especially for that price and with the rubbed of farina from all the man-handeling. I just felt like sharing. First time I've seen something like this offered at a plant store.
(also, aren't those some graptopetalum in the middle or am I mistaken?)

They need to go home with you for some TLC!
Imo it’s the same as selling rootless cuttings or flowers cutting for arrangement. I know some people like to make arrangements out of them. Once they are rooted and out grow the arrangement a year or two later, they take cuttings and make a new arrangement with them!
While I totally see your point there’s something to be said about selling callused crowns dry (hopefully) vs letting them sit in terrible soil and rot. I’ve even bought succulents with a nursery pot that had 0 roots and were just crowns. At least they’re being honest here. But again, I totally understand why it rubs you the wrong way.
