I noticed this peculiar fern. In that area I observed Dryopteris dilatata, D. carthusiana, and D. filix-mas. I suspect this specimen is a hybrid between D. filix-mas and D. dilatata. I do not think D. carthusiana is a parent, as D. dilatata has a distinctly drooping habit similar to this plant.
Can anybody confirm? Or is it just variation? Other hybrid origin?
