My Friends father who was a cactus collector and breeder passend away and left his incredible collection behind. He couldnt take care of these plants the last ten years and many of them are in horrible shape. I am trying my best to geht them healthy again. I started cataloging the collection. Foud out I have many plants wirhout proper id. Maybe someone can help me with a few of them. I do have an educated guess in this one but i figured i ask fore other opinions before writing a Label.

There’s only one species of Epithelantha with long, protruding central spines: Epithelantha spinosior. This species is more commonly known as Epithelantha unguispina, but in the last revision of the genus the species epithet was changed to spinosior because it was found to have been approrpiately published before the unguispina name was.

The plant is on the taller side, but I guess that’s not totally unusual for Epithelantha in cultivation. At a glance I couldn’t tell the genus from the first pic!
